The Proud Family
World Premiere Event
To celebrate the highly anticipated launch of the Disney+ reboot of The Proud Family, and the 20-Year Anniversary of the original show, our team created an innovative high-tech hybrid experience for cast and fans all across the world.
One part mixed reality show and one part digital premiere event, we combined live XR performances, interactive art, and proprietary web technologies to connect The Proud Family fans and the cast in real time. The action-packed premiere gave guests the opportunity to explore the story world of The Proud Family and celebrate the beloved revival.
The hybrid premiere event included:
An interactive broadcast connecting the cast on-set with virtual audiences online
A watch party for the cast & crew (in-person) and fans (virtual)
Extended Reality (XR) performances by Joyce Wrice & DJ Battlecat
Custom-built clickable online games & interactive trivia
Live interviews with the cast
With our strategic hybrid approach and delivery, the premiere garnered over 100 million impressions and reached fans in over 100 cities.
The SETTING
Our hybrid experience took place across 2 settings: Sunset Las Palmas Studios in Los Angeles, and our proprietary virtual theater online.
At the Sunset Las Palmas Studios we collaborated with XR Studios to build an Extended-Reality (XR) creation of The Proud Family storyworld.
The Inspiration: The middle school gym from The Proud Family, decorated for homecoming
The Design: XR Renderings of the gym with our live performers placed in-scene
A walk-through of the XR production:
The JOURNEY
The experience kicked off with pre-show content geared for long-time superfans as well as a new generation of viewers.
Virtual guests were able to participate in interactive trivia hosted by The Proud Family cast.
At the same time, the cast & crew gathered in-person in LA for press interviews, ‘purple carpet’ photos, and an intimate party.
All attendees were then treated to a special live XR performance of the reimagined Proud Family theme song by Joyce Wrice
And show creators creators Bruce W. Smith and Ralph Farquhar introduced the new series before the global watch party started
We simulcast the first 2 episodes to an intimate watch party in the studio as well as to virtual audiences who were tuned in via our proprietary screening technology
After the screening, guests were invited to the after-party in our recreation of the Willy T. Ribbs Middle School:
(1) The ‘Lockers’ featured clickable online games with easter eggs about the show.
(2) The ‘Cafeteria’ featured live interviews by EJ Johnson, using an interactive broadcast to solicit questions & reactions from the virtual audience
(3) The ‘Gym’ featured a dance party with DJ Battlecat in our XR recreation of The Proud Family homecoming episode
